And On And On And On...

Eyo!
Today's post is going to be a little less formal than usual. If you're reading this on a not-Thursday, there IS a reason for that, but it must remain under wraps until next month, at which point I will tell all. For now, I'm excited to share with you what I've been doing lately!
First of all, I've finished line-editing my debut manuscript! (Cue that confetti stuff)
No, that says PRINT.
...
That's better.
Now I'm going to set the manuscript aside for about a week, and when I go back to it, I'll begin the proofreading process. I'll probably print it out for this and stick it in a cute binder (if I can find one...) I've also changed the font to help trick my brain into thinking it's something unfamiliar. Y'know, to cut down on those glaring typos that I've overlooked the last six times I've read it.
As for my first-draft project, I've made a good chunk of progress which has taken me either to or past the midpoint... I never really know where that's going to be until I finish the draft. (I'm not a plotter, okay?) It's been a long time -- probably about five years -- since I've worked on a story from scratch, pulling the bare bones out of thin air so I can spin them into something actually pretty later, but I think I'm finding the swing of it again.
Baby Jalapeno is no longer a baby, for those who are wondering. A few weeks ago I picked two small peppers; now there are seven (maybe more!) and they're getting bigger every day.
It's almost County Fair season, which means it's HOT and I'm ready for fall. However, the miller moths weren't as bad this year thanks to the extra rain, so there's that I guess.
Now then, I must be going. Fare thee well, my friend; I am off to a gathering of my fellow word mages in a region far from here. God willing, I shall return with new wisdom and tales of my travels. Send thy prayers after me, for I have heard the traffic is abominable.

Onward!
- Lydia
